During the off peak times the cottage will also be available for short breaks, mid-week and long weekends. Please see the rates and booking pages for more details.

Holiday Cottage Close to Whitby Town Centre and Beach

It's rare in Whitby to find holiday cottages with great views, some outside space, easy access and not far from parking spaces. The cottage fronts on to the narrow, one way Cliff Street where pedestrian traffic far exceeds vehicle traffic. Turn right out of the cottage, up Cliff Street and you are soon on Kyber Pass heading down to the beach or up past the Whale Bone Arch on the way to the Pavilion and West Cliff. Turn Left and you are at the shops on Flowergate on your way to the Swing Bridge and the East side of town. There's not much to see from the front of the cottage (the views are round at the back) although at times you can experience a parade of the weird and wonderful people that add spice to the character of Whitby life.

A Haven from the Hustle & Bustle of The Town

The back of the cottage and terrace gives relative privacy as well as another route to the Harbour. Here is an almost secret gem of Whitby, not many visitors stumble upon it and only a few locals use it. The covered passage way at the side of the cottage leads to a path and steps known as Mission Hall Yard and gives almost private access for Wynd Cottage Guests and the few cottages behind and below.

From the haven of tranquility on the terrace you can watch and listen to the goings on in the town, the harbour, lifeboat launches, rowing club races, climbers on the 199 steps, the sea, the tides and some stunning skies.

Dog Friendly Holiday Cottage

Yes dogs are welcome at Wynd Cottage. Our lurcher "Benson" loves to stay here. All the normal caveats apply, well behaved, not left alone, kept off the furniture, not in the bed rooms etc. Being dog friendly, we don't charge extra for your pet however a returnable deposit will apply Please see the rates and booking pages for more details.

All You Need to Know Before you Book

Please see "The Cottage" pages before you book, we have included as much detail as we can so you are sure you making the right choice. This also includes details about what some might consider as negative points, we certainly don't want you having any unwelcome surprises after you have arrived. From the experience of one local hotel it's even worth warning guests that there are seagulls at the seaside and they can be noisy! More importantly there are notes about access, steps and stairs etc. so you can assess if you will be comfortable with the accessibility if you aren't so good on your pins.

*Smokers, smoking, we would say smokers welcome but that's going a bit far. We need to make sure the cottage stays fresh for non-smokers that stay after you. So outside, no problem, there's a covered passageway for you if it's raining and you should find an ashtray in the wash house for you to use on the terrace.

**Note: We are still exploring the building's history. See the cottage history pages for research so far.
